Meet Marissa
"I love playing detective to help families get the answers they deserve."
Marissa Joy, M.S., CCC-SLP
Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist
I am a speech therapist who loves to make life easier for families! With over 10 years of experience working in public schools, long term care facilities, and private practice, I have developed a passion for helping children breathe, eat, speak, and sleep better - and empowering parents to do the same! I am committed to finding the root cause of a child's challenges and treating the underlying problem, rather than managing the symptoms.
I relate to my clients on a personal level, as my son was born with a tongue tie that caused significant feeding challenges. Unfortunately, I received little guidance from our pediatrician and was unable to curb the pain of breastfeeding even after meeting with several lactation consultants. Eventually, I was connected to an amazing therapy team who heard me, understood the problem, and helped us both. This experience completely changed my nursing journey and deeply influenced my professional work! Now, I have advanced training in lactation and feeding support, orofacial myofunctional disorders, and effective therapy methods that take place at the intersection of speech and feeding.
I love a hot cup of coffee and a good book, but nothing beats spending time with my husband and two boys! As a functional nutritional therapy practitioner, I also love to always be learning about holistic health and wellness.
